Getting ready to set up my Jr.. I was going to hook up to a TV with the adapter since I don't have a "real" monitor. Thinking about buying a small LED type TV from the thrift store. What quality picture will I get? Thanks!

What "adapter"/connection were you planning on using? It's not clear from your message.
The PCjr composite output isn't NTSC broadcast standard, but most TVs with composite input can display it.

I had planned on using the IBM made adapter that was proprietary for the PCjr, but I tried the composite output and it work fine.

You mean the TV RF adapter? The composite output port is higher quality anyway.

I think he means the adapter that lets you use the IBM color display 5153.

OK, that's the TV adapter. I use the monitor that was made for the PCjr, so I don't know about output to a TV or the IBM 5153, although I do have a TV adapter. I can only assume that the output for either of the monitors would be better than TV output because TV is an interlaced signal.

The output of the TV adapter is worse than composite, so you use composite if you can, and the TV adapter only if your display doesn't have a working composite input.

I use the adapter for RGBI with a converter made for the C128 that converts digital RGBI to analog and then a Gonbes converter to upscale to VGA. This then works with a cheap VGA monitor I got from a thrift shop. I chose a monitor that had speakers and hooked it up to the audio port via a Y adapter. There is also a direct RGBI to VGA adapter I bought from a guy on VCFED.ORG, but I haven't tried that out.

That's a good combo, but just wanted to mention that the "TV adapter" and "monitor (RGBI) adapter" are two different adapters.
Nobody should use the TV adapter unless desperate.
